From humble beginnings with the opening of their first carpentry shop in 1927, Ortolan has grown to become a well established maker of quality furniture with an ever expanding market.
The company was the brainchild of the Italian Attilio Ortolan. He enlisted the help of his three brothers and in the beginning they spent much of their time restoring furniture. It was several decades before they branched out, with great success, into the area of furniture design.
The ability of the Ortolan artisans was held in such high esteem that many prestigious commissions were received, including the restoration of a wooden altar created by Andrea Brustolon, a famous Venetian artist.
By the time Attilio Ortolan died in 1973, the company’s market included much of Europe and the running of the business was taken over by his three sons.
With the new Millennium upon us, Ortolan continues to progress and is constantly looking in new directions, while still managing to make product quality lead the way in its list of priorities.
