Artemide
Artemide was born in 1959, founded by Ernesto Gismondi, and has since grown to be a global company and probably the best known name in high quality lighting. The firm has won a huge range of prizes, including Compasso d'Oro (1995), l'European Design Prize (1997), Product Design Award (1999) and the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (1999). Artemide is also present in over 100 museums around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Philadelphia Museum, and the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnica in Milan. Many of the most famous designers of the last 30 years have been involved with Artemide, including Vico Magistretti, Gio Ponti, Livio Castiglioni, Masayuki Kurokawa and Emma Scheinberger. Our favourite piece is the Pantalica chandelier, a modern interpretation of the classical venetian chandelier.
